Hunters Green Elementary – Poor Choice?

It is true that I toured private schools and ultimately ended up crossing my fingers when my School Choice lotto results came in.  I was so ecstatic that we had been approved for Hunter’s Green Elementary… it is, in fact, a Blue Ribbon School in a nice area.  Everything was going to be perfect!
We start [...]

Aidan rides “magic bike”

After many, many months of trying to get Aidan to ride a bike without training wheels, he finally did it today!  Luke’s friend Tony had loaned us a “magic bike” that did just the trick… once Aidan got up the courage to actually get on it and try.  Go Aidan… woo hoo!

Christmas 2009

Well, Christmas came and went very quickly… as it normally does I suppose.  Thanks to retail America, we start getting pumped up so early and then it’s over in such a flash!
This year, we spread the love and decided not to have a big celebration at our place.  Instead, we spent Christmas Eve with Luke’s [...]

Thanksgiving 2009

We went with the “potluck” theme again for Thanksgiving this year… it’s a genius idea really.  Our oven is still unpredictable (AKA broken), so making a turkey or anything requiring some time behind it is almost impossible.  We divided up the meal to create a massive feast of gluttonous proportions. Of course, I managed to [...]

So long tonsils & adenoids

Poor Aidan was once again called to the operation table… only this time it was to remove his tonsils and adenoids.
It’s been a couple of years since our pediatrician started warning of his enlarged tonsils, and I admit that the poor kid always seemed to have a runny nose and cough.  Sinus infections get nasty [...]

What’s new?

Well, this is my attempt at finally posting something to our new site.  It seems I’ve been caught up with Twitter updates and all of the other chaotic stuff that comes with life as a full-time mom that works too.  If it weren’t for my iPhone, I probably would go insane.
Anyway, so what’s going on [...]

Aidan gets two thumbs up!

I attended Aidan’s first parent-teacher conference at Hunter’s Green Elementary last night and was very pleased to discover that Aidan is perfect (at school).
It appears that the focus and hyperactivity issues we were having in pre-school are no longer a problem.  Ms. Cosentino says he sits still and is a careful listener.  She also [...]

Public Education Woes

Well, let me tell you that life within the public education system is much different than expected.  And, my expectations weren’t really set that high to start with.  The whole experience so far has been somewhat surprising because I felt we were somehow going to be exempt from all of these problems going to a [...]

Aidan gets spanked

Aidan made it over five years without getting spanked.  I was always adamant that it wasn't the right way to discipline a child because it teaches them to deal with frustration through violence.  Luke felt differently, but let me try things my way and figured I would come around sooner or later… and, I did.
Last night, I reached my [...]

Aidan’s Antics

Well, it appears that the start of kindergarten has brought about a change in our little prince Aidan.  The first week of school went swimmingly, with no problems at all.  Aidan stayed on the “green” in the behavior tree and even made a few friends.  We considered the whole ordeal a success… until week two.
The 2nd [...]
